No one really cares about Justin’s music, they all want the celebrity, actor tells Oprah

Justin Bieber seems to have fallen out of grace with many because of his recent antics (his Beliebers are not included, of course) but he will always have an ally in Rob Lowe, even if he doesn’t even know it. Lowe says he has “tremendous empathy” for the pop star.

The actor was on Oprah the other night to promote his brand new autobiography “Love Life,” in which he discusses, among other things, what it was like for him growing up in the spotlight and being a teen idol.

That’s a sentiment Justin must relate to, since he too started early in the industry and, come to think of it, is yet to outgrow his heartthrob phase. Lowe believes that this comes at the cost of attention to his music – and he’s convinced The Biebs makes excellent music and is a solid artist.

“He makes really good music, he does, but I think he knows the dark secret, and the dark secret is 80 percent of his audience doesn't give a [expletive] about the music. And he knows it. It bums him out. They care about lemming-think, and their girlfriends and who's oohing and aahing and screaming. It has nothing to do with what he's doing as an artist,” he explains, as the video below can confirm.

In another interview, Lowe spoke in detail about what it was like for him to be a heartthrob, saying he found out the hard way that there was a “historical bias and prejudice against good-looking people,” which, for him, meant not getting any of the juicier roles until he got older.
