Rob Lowe Blackmailed by Former Employee

The actor has revealed that his family's former nanny demanded $1.5 million in exchange for concealing his family's "inappropriate conduct"

Rob Lowe and his wife are being blackmailed by their former nanny

As the sometimes-funny cliche goes, good staff is hard to find. Actor Rob Lowe found this to be true in a series of rather traumatizing circumstances, which he revealed in an article published in the Huffington Post today. He reveals that a former employee is falsely accusing him of inappropriate conduct and demands that $1.5 million in "hush money" be paid to her until Friday - otherwise she threatens to sell her story to the tabloids. The woman in question, whom Lowe refuses to name, worked as a nanny for him and his wife Sheryl on and off for seven years, quit unexpectedly, then contacted Lowe - on whom reportedly she used to have a crush - and made the threats in question.

"A former employee is demanding my wife Sheryl and I pay her 1.5 million dollars by the end of the week or she will accuse us both of a vicious laundry list of false terrible," he writes. "It is an attempt to damage and humiliate not only my wife and me, but our two young sons as well. My family is devastated at this betrayal; this woman worked in our home and traveled with us off and on for seven years, without complaint." Lowe then goes on to explain how the former nanny - who, according to him, quit then, returned to work for them three times in the past - disappeared abruptly some weeks ago. However, he claims she eventually contacted his wife via text messages, writing "I have nothing bad 2 say about your family and really am thankful for what you guys have done for me over the years. I did not leave out of spite or anger, it was just time for my heart to let go... It had nothing to do with you or rob either, this was me".

However, a short while after the texts were received and the matter was considered closed by the family, the former nanny came back threatening to expose Lowe and his family unless she be paid $ 1.5 million by the end of the week. "No one intimidates my family. My wife and I have many former and long term employees, all of whom know this woman, who can and will refute any claims of anything inappropriate in our home, or anywhere else. We will defend ourselves with vigor and without fear," states Lowe, who has been married to Sheryl Berkoff since 1991.
