One week ago, Rob Lowe went public with an article in the Huffington Post revealing how a former employee - his children's nanny Jessica Gibson, to be more precise - allegedly blackmailed him and demanded $1,5 million in exchange for her silence on certain compromising details regarding his family. At the time, Lowe refused to reveal the name of the employee in question and simply stated that his family was not going to put up with the blackmail. The other side of the story has just been revealed - in a very dramatic manner - on the Today show, where Lowe's former nanny and her celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred came to talk about the way Jessica Gibson was reportedly subjected to years of harassment in Lowe's household.
It was revealed that Gibson hired the notoriously aggressive Allred to help her file her own lawsuit, listing the harassment she claims she had to put up with while working for Lowe and his wife, among which she mentions being touched inappropriately and seeing both Lowe and his wife Sheryl walk naked around the house. "Rob Lowe repeatedly exposed himself and inappropriately touched himself and his former nanny. Jessica Gibson, 24, worked for Lowe and his wife, Sheryl, off and on for seven years, according to the 18-page document. She quit on Feb. 24," claims her lawyer. "[Lowe] placed his hand inside Gibson's pants several times," between about Sept. 2005 and Jan. 2008. The actor also allegedly grabbed his nanny's buttocks without her consent around Dec. 2007, according to the filing.
In her legal papers, Gibson also made harassment claims against Sheryl, 46, claiming Lowe's wife "would walk around the house naked, make vulgar comments, and would discuss her sex life with Lowe" in front of the nanny. When asked about what made her keep the job for roughly seven years, Gibson's reply was "I loved the children, I needed the job, I always thought it would get better, and I was scared". As for the emails she wrote after she left - and in which she claimed her unexpected departure had nothing to do with the way she had been treated by the actor and his wife - Gibson herself didn't deny writing them, and Allred added, by means of excuse that "she was in fear of them, she was trying to appease them. She was trying to get away". Stay tuned for more details of this affair, which will emerge as the battle moves to court.
