14 DAY TRIAL // Fans of the E!-produced reality show KUWTK know that Rob Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian’s brother, and Lamar Odom, her estranged husband, shared a very special bond. A new report says they were so close that Lamar’s divorce from Khloe brought Rob into the bad state he is in right now.
Rob hasn’t been seen in public for a few months and he’s also been strangely absent from the current season of the show, which was shot this spring.
He’s gained a lot of weight and is said to be very depressed, but he’s also dabbling in drugs and drinks too much. Word online has it that the family has already staged a few interventions, but none of them had any success in making him understand he had a serious problem, for which he needed professional help.
TMZ claims to have it on very good authority that Rob’s current issues can be traced back to Odom, not in the sense that he got him to drink, do drugs and / or overeat, but rather that his divorce from Khloe affected Rob more than anyone could have predicted.
“Rob was devastated when his dad – famed O.J. lawyer Robert Kardashian – died back in 2003. We're told he took it much harder than his siblings and never really got over it. When Khloe married Lamar, the bballer became a father figure to Rob,” the celebrity e-zine says.
“Sources close to Khloe tell us Rob thrived around Lamar, inspiring him to start a business and get in awesome shape. They became best friends, but Rob idolized him,” the report adds.
In the video below, a segment from one of the most recent episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Khloe talks about “dark things happening in the house” which might have turned Rob to doing “dark things” as well.
According to the same report, those “things” are not drug-related because Lamar never did drugs at home. If anything, he went out of his way to hide his addiction from the family, which means that getting high at home was absolutely the last thing he would have done.
She’s referring to “the arguments and breakdown of the marriage,” TMZ claims. Rob took all them to heart and it sent him to a really dark place.
This had never been confirmed officially by Lamar, but it is believed that, sometime ago, about a couple of years back, he developed a serious addiction to crack cocaine. For a very long time, he managed to keep it a secret even from Khloe, but when she did find out, she tried her best to get him to clean up.
After several failed attempts and finding out that this wasn’t the only secret Lamar had been keeping from her, because he was also sleeping around on her a lot, she gave up on him and filed the divorce papers in December 2013.
