Last night, Ovidiu Angelescu announced the release of the fourth Release Candidate of the 1.3 version of RoFreeSBIE, a Live CD/DVD based on the FreeBSD operating system. This version comes with improved startup scripts, backup and restore scripts. It also includes a unique feature that allows you to activate and deactivate Nvidia drivers on the fly. "Also due to the DesktopBSD project and his developer Peter Hofer a new grafical installer has been included and many, many more. Until now a lot of bugs has been corrected and the final RELEASE will be available soon." - said Ovidiu Angelescu, RoFreeSBIE developer and maintainer.

RoFreeSBIE is short from Romanian Free System Burned In Economy.

What makes RoFreeSBIE unique?

■ RoFreeSBIE has a wide-range of powerful scripts; from Internet and antivirus configurations to partitions detection. ■ Testing your hardware compatibility with FreeBSD 6.2 before installing couldn't be easier with a Live CD/DVD like RoFreeSBIE. ■ High level of security thanks to UNIX solid as a rock, Clamav antivirus, F-Prot antivirus and a firewall. Feel safe with RoFreeSBIE. ■ Because RoFreeSBIE is FreeBSD based, it uses intelligent ways of updating: cvsup and recompiling the base system or binary patches. If you use cvsup, you can track daily changes on the FreeBSD base system and easily obtain a new FreeBSD release when it appears. ■ Linux penguin draw RoFreeSBIE runs Linux applications with high performance and speed. Why should you have to choose between BSD and Linux, when you can get the best of both? ■ With clone.sh you'll be able to make a compressed image of a chosen partition from your HDD and store it on another writable partition.

RoFreeSBIE comes with KDE window manager that supports English, Romanian, Italian, French, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese and German languages.
