The solid-state drives market has become the favorite place for companies to bully one another in a cut-throat competition for achieving the largest storage density. Few manufacturers managed to overcome
the 100 GB barrier: Micron, Buffalo, STEC and the all-time champion, BiTMICRO. Now it's Ritek's time to enter the elites' club with their 128 GB solid-state drives series.

Ritek has announced a capacity update to its solid-state drives line. The company's top product was the 32 GB solid-state unit, but as the 64 GB SSD devices are becoming more and more common, they have decided to align their storage devices to the 128 GB line.

The Ultra-S products come in a standard, 2.5-inch form factor and connect to the computer via a Serial-ATA II interface, which allows notebook users move from classical HDDs to SSDs without performing any hardware modification to the system. The drive features an amazing 300MB/s burst read speed, but in normal conditions, the unit can deliver 39/32, 60/50, 100/70 MB/s Read/Write transfer rates.

"SSD drives offer a host of benefits over traditional hard disk drives. Cool and silent running; fast data access times; dependability and resistance to harsh environments make SSD drives a serious contender for virtually replacing Hard Disc Drives," remarked Harvey Liu, Advanced Media President. "The read rate of our 2.5" SATA SSD drive provides users with a phenomenally fast speed. For instance, it reduces boot up and seek times to mere seconds, while installation of new software programs can be accomplished in seconds rather than minutes."

Ritek claims that its devices are extremely fast when it comes to data transfer. Moreover, the company has demonstrated that the Ultra-S drives are fast enough to handle new gaming world titles, such as Crysis.

"iBuypower, a leading high-end gaming computer manufacturer applied this new solution to their top of line game machines. The Ridata SSD provided gamers with a blazing fast performance of 260MB/s read speed and 130MB/s write speed that enhanced the gamers' graphical experience and game performance," stated Harvey Liu, Advanced Media President.

The disks are expected to hit the retail market until the end of the month. The price has not been disclosed yet, but if you decide to get an 128 GB unit, you'd better start saving.
