Developer Piranha Bytes and publisher Deep Silver have released a video that delivers some gameplay footage and outlines the main features in their upcoming role-playing game, Risen 3: Titan Lords.

Even more than that, the two companies have put together an introductory video that showcases how the devs utilized all the good traits of the Gothic and Risen series in order to make Risen 3: Titan Lords "the best experience possible."

Until now, the devs have revealed a few teasing screenshots from the game, but this time around the sizable offering presents the plot of the game, introducing the main villains and showing what exactly Piranha Bytes has prepared for Risen 3 players to explore.

The game starts with a young warrior, attacked from the shadows by a Titan Lord and deprived of his soul. He then sets out on a quest to reclaim what he lost, and this time around, the developer offers players the chance to delve into a darker, but more vivid world, with many purposeful interactions and many mysteries to uncover.

The upcoming game has a pretty strong focus on exploration, with many secret passages and quest awaiting for intrepid adventurers.

At the beginning of the game, players will have to choose their affiliation to either the resolute Demon Hunters, the magical Guardian's Guild or the awesome-sounding Voodoo Pirates, the three main competing factions in the game, in order to reach their goals.

The video presents the wealth of possibilities waiting to be explored, as well as some of the familiar faces that fans of Piranha Bytes' previous games might recognize, and the new attitude system that influences how you interact with non-playable characters.

The vid also offers some details regarding the combat system, revealing how the hero now has more options than ever before when it comes to engaging his enemies, including different types of attacks, that are either swift or slower, but more powerful.

In addition to this, skill trainers will help the hero reach new heights of combat prowess, by teaching players new abilities and unique, faction-exclusive skills.

The art of Crystal Magic, that faded and was in hiding in the pirate-themed Risen 2, makes a return in Risen 3: Titan Lords, in response to the terrible events unfolding in the third iteration in the series.

Risen 3: Titan Lords is coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC platforms on August 12 in North America, and August 15 in Europe.
