This is a tactic meant to help digest inventories of old graphics cards

With the NVIDIA GeForce 700 series of graphics adapters out for sale, the GeForce GTX 600 series and older cards have taken a backseat, and that's something that is causing trouble to companies like EVGA.

That's because it is never a good thing to wind up with old inventories, because it's an investment that doesn't pay off.

In situations like this, price cuts are frequently applied, in order to encourage customers, especially those strapped for cash, to get an older-generation adapter rather than one of the more recent ones.

EVGA has chosen a different tactic this time though, one inspired by AMD's Never Settle game bundles and NVIDIA's own free game offerings.

Long story short, the EVGA GeForce 600 NVIDIA-based boards will ship with a free Steam code for Rise of the Triad.

The exact list is thus: EVGA GeForce GTX 650, 650 Ti, 650 Ti BOOST, 660, 660 Ti, 670, 680 and 690. Find more info here.
