Developer Vector Unit announces that Riptide GP2 is coming to the Xbox One computer entertainment system on January 23.

The game was initially released on mobile devices, where it made quite a splash, and then transitioned over to Steam last year, gathering some positive reviews in the process.

The game enables players to engage in dynamic races with rocket-powered hydro jets, set in futuristic cityscapes, twisting canals and rivers, and mysterious research facilities.

Riptide GP2 has a distinct old-school arcade racing vibe, featuring sky-jumps and a wide variety of death-defying, daring stunts to perform and wow the crowds.

In addition to this, gamers can find a collection of powerful customizable watercraft at their disposal, with paint schemes and performance tuning available to suit everyone's needs and wants.

Furthermore, the game supports split-screen matches as well as online multiplayer, so you can race against gamers all around the world.

The game also offers a satisfying career mode with tons of upgrades, customizable riders and skills, and comes with fully integrated controller support, setting a new standard in modern water racing games.

Banking on previous experience

Vector Unit previously developed the Xbox 360 and Windows 8 hit Hydro Thunder Hurricane, and their experience has now translated into a beautiful and engaging racer that runs in 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second on the Xbox One.

Vector Unit announced plans to deliver a spruced-up edition on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 home consoles, and now it seems that the racing game is headed to Microsoft's system on January 23. For the time being, the PS4 edition is nowhere to be seen. In any case, we'll keep an eye out for future developments and will come back with the news as soon as it drops.

Also, you might want to keep a watchful eye on the company's Twitter feed, as they plan to give out some game codes on Friday.
