Latest winter-fall tendencies, particularly keen on ripped clothes

Since the '90s, when grunge style was made a fashion exclusive by Marc Jacobs, the ripped clothes trend seems to be resuscitated every now and then, while also adding some flavor to what designers define as hot (or not). Torn jeans, and especially leggings, are a must for every fashionista out there in search of an edgy, neo-grunge, rock-chick look, or just the thing for the unintentionally clumsy to breathe a sigh of relief.

This fall, it is what is being worn on the streets by regular folks that had an overwhelming influence on fashion tendencies. People got to see more of that rebellious girl kind of look, as designers such as Alexander Wang introduced the ripped tights into their fall collections. It seems like the most successful combination is of a pair of laddered tights with a uniform-like suit, or a mini-skirt, matched with some faded-out boots. This is definitely a personalized fashion statement, as it is “the wearer” who can also be responsible for the ripping as well.

Denim tendencies also went with the general flow, especially since the summer lines have prepared the scene for the fall arrivals. However, even if the catwalks don't do much in terms of revealing skin through jeans, we have the celebrities who do it instead. Just recently, Rihanna was “caught in the act,” and photographed wearing a smoking-hot pair of deep blue & ripped skinny denims. While it is quite a shift from the original grunge tendencies, it’s still true to the “cause.”

Other Hollywood starlets, including Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Ritchie, and even devoted mothers like Kate Beckinsale, have been spotted with similar pairs of (in)famous ripped denims, which can only mean that the trend has started to gain strength with every single day. While not being the mirrored counterpart of what was donned in the ‘80s or ‘90s, this trend is still a refreshing touch and a move from mainstream towards more personalization in terms of fashion.

The absolute winner is, again, Lindsay Lohan, since she's the trendiest of the lot – she actually has her own label of ripped jeans, and the perfect leggings to wear in “these trying times.”
