A good apology goes a long way, it is often being said. In Chris Brown’s case, a good apology, posted online and watched by millions, is good enough to make Rihanna forget the severe beating she took back in February over something as silly as a text message. The two singers are back together and trying to hide their affair from the media. Just this weekend, for instance, both stayed at the same hotel, the New York Post writes.

As most of you already know, the backlash against Chris Brown after word of what he had done to Rihanna got out was extremely severe. Even back there, rumor did circulate that she had taken him back within hours after the beating which, in turn, prompted a very negative response from fans and the media. With this in mind, it’s not hard to understand why Rihanna would be doing her best to hide the affair now as well – granted this most recent report is accurate.

“Just days after Chris Brown publicly apologized for his February beating of then-girlfriend Rihanna, the two spent the weekend at the same luxury Midtown hotel under a cloak of secrecy, The Post has learned. The pretty ‘Umbrella’ singer and ‘Run It’ crooner – who is barred from seeing his former squeeze by a restraining order issued in Los Angeles – checked into separate rooms at the Trump International Hotel & Tower on Friday, hotel sources said.” The Post writes, adding that it’s almost certain the two spent the weekend together.

Moreover, the publication states, the two lovebirds went to extreme lengths to ensure no one knew they were there at all, much less together, including using decoy cars, paying off hotel personnel and employing all tactics and tricks known to celebrities to distract media attention. Clearly, if The Post found them out, Rihanna and Brown must have done something wrong.

“They spent the next two days coming and going in separate chauffeured vehicles from the underground garage of the 52-story Columbus Circle building. The two appear to have taken great measures to avoid public exposure, including the use of decoy vehicles to throw off reporters and photographers.” says the publication. Legally speaking, there is much more at stake than just risking upsetting a couple of fans. “If Brown is found to have violated the [restraining] order – even with Rihanna’s consent – he risks blowing his plea bargain and being charged with a misdemeanor.” The Post points out.

As fans must know, following the February 2009 incident, Brown was sentenced to community work, five years on probation and attending a mandatory domestic violence class.
