Bon Jovi fans at a very intimate gig in Madrid, Spain, right before this year’s edition of MTV’s Europe Music Awards, had the surprise of their life when Rihanna walked in on stage.

Without this being that much of a stretch, it would seem Rihanna is becoming the hottest performer to book for a duet this days – and her fans must surely know that already.

After topping the charts with Eminem this year with “Love the Way You Lie,” and recording a duet with female rapper Nicki Minaj, Rihanna has just made her first foray into rock, as People magazine also points out.

“The red-haired singer Tweeted after she was the surprise addition to Bon Jovi’s Madrid show Saturday night,” the mag writes.

Judging by her tweet – “Wait... Did I just rock out with Bon Jovi tonight???” – it would seem Rihanna herself had some trouble believing the duet had actually happened.

Luckily for fans there, it actually did; and was quite a hit to boot.

“She joined the veteran rockers for a rendition of their hit ‘Living on a Prayer’ at an intimate gig in Madrid,” People says.

“And, the New Jersey rockers didn’t let the 1,000-strong crowd at Teatro Circo Price down with a set list including ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’ and their new single ‘What Do You Got?’” the same publication further reports.

Bon Jovi were at the EMAs, where they received the inaugural Global Icon award. However, at the gala, Jon Bon Jovi couldn’t stop gushing about Rihanna and the duet of the night before.

“It was so beautiful. She sang great, she’s a sweetheart of a girl. She’s a big fan too. It was great,” the rocker reveled to People on the red carpet at the EMAs.

Also then, the legendary rocker talked about another one of his favorite pop artists of today and, perhaps not at all surprisingly, it’s Lady Gaga.

“If Elton John and Madonna had a baby it would be Lady Gaga. I’ve seen her perform at a number of events. She’s a college-trained musician, a student and a fantastic performer,” the rocker said of Gaga.

“She gives it all that she’s got. When she develops with time and continues to work on her sound, she is going to have a really bright future,” Jon added.

Below is a video of Bon Jovi and Rihanna doing “Living on a Prayer.” Enjoy (though quality of the video is rather poor).
