Rihanna was booked for an appearance at the Barrington High School in Chicago over the weekend but traffic in Chicago got the best of her. She arrived 4 hours late at the charity event.

Luckily, Us Weekly reports, the students at the high school, who had won a meet and greet with their idol, patiently waited for her. She was in and out of that place in 16 minutes.

To her credit, while she was on the road and stuck in traffic, Rihanna tweeted about the accomplishments of the students she was to meet, highlighting their efforts to raise money for charity.

“They partnered up with Gigi's Playhouse a Down syndrome awareness center and created a video for their banquet and raised [$]245,000 [€197,955],” she wrote.

“They travel to S. Dakota every year to help the people of the Native American community on the crow creek reservation! They raised [$]35,000 [€26,850] to build houses and help meet the needs of the communities,” Rihanna added.

Still, some students considered being 4 hours late was just a tad too “rude,” the aforementioned media outlet notes.
