Keeping up – or at least trying to do so – with the changes in Rihanna’s style can, at times, appear to be an almost impossible feat. Still, fans looking to emulate her should know that the media is more than helping them out, so the only thing they need now to keep up with their idol is another dose of fierceness, People magazine says.

Over the weekend, the singer unveiled a new punk-rock ‘do in concert in Spain. Once known for her trademark curls, in recent months, Rihanna has been experimenting a lot with her hair, and the result is that she now has a buzz cut, a cropped ‘do that celebrity hairstylist Ursula Stephen has dyed in fire engine red. The ‘do and the color go better with the military chic look the singer is rocking these days, it is being said, while also scoring for her huge points for originality.

“When Rihanna stormed the stage in Spain on Saturday, it wasn’t just her Madonna-esque bodysuit that had audiences buzzing. The fierce fashionista had given her amber cropped cut a fiery update with new red-hot locks. With her taste for in-your-face high fashion, we think this new style is just the icing to Rihanna’s always daring style. After all, who else could pull off a fire-engine red bowl cut?” People writes.

Just like with her music, it would seem that whatever Rihanna does in terms of personal style and fashion choices also generates mixed reactions. Many of the e-zines that have uploaded pics of her most recent ‘do also come with user comments that are anything but indifferent: while many see in Rihanna a trendsetter in the most basic sense of the word, there are also those who are of the opinion that the singer many have decided to do everything in her power to make herself look worse by the day.

As far as she’s concerned, Rihanna once said that she sees her style and her image as an extension of who she is an artist. In this context, dying her hair in such a dramatic color and going for such an out of the ordinary cut would mean she doesn’t really care about what people make of it, one may as well infer.
