It's certainly hard to keep track of all the changes Rihanna operates on her appearance almost on a monthly basis but surely one can't miss the fact that she's gone from her natural color and curly hair, to a Goldie Hawn-like blonde.

Over the weekend, the singer debuted a new look, sending her fans into a frenzy of speculation on whether she was wearing a wig again or had really undergone this drastic makeover.

As it turns out, Rihanna is really a blonde now – and she's confirmed it on her Twitter page.

Rihanna will be featured on the cover of one of th upcoming issues of Elle magazine, and the change (blonde dye, extensions and flat-ironed hair) is mostly for the photoshoot.

She doesn't explain why it was necessary, but word online has it she might be doing an '80s-inspired spread.

Last time Rihanna stepped out in public, she had her natural curly hair and hair color, after a period of rocking mostly red locks.

As noted above, it's rather difficult to keep track of all the changes she makes on her appearance and mostly her hair, but one person who surely keeps tabs is her personal stylist.

Back in August last year, word got out that the singer was coughing up an impressive $3,000 (€2,285.7) each day in hair styling bills alone.

Since she had work meetings and promo appearances almost all times, and since her label wanted her to look good even when she didn't, the bills amounted to astronomical figures each month, as one can easily imagine.

“Rihanna likes to pioneer new styles but it’s costing her a fortune. She makes several public appearances a week, and the cost soon stacks up,” an insider told the press, as we also reported at the time.

Luckily, Rihanna didn't pay for all this out of her pocket, since it was her label who footed the bill.

“Ursula [Stephen, the hairstylist] is a close confidante and they are together all the time. You have to wonder why she insists on keeping such an expensive member of her entourage on the payroll 24/7. Most of these costs are paid for by her management,” said the spy.
