After
performing on the British show X Factor the other week, Rihanna announced that she would start touring in support of her “Rated R” album in a matter of months. Keeping true to the word she gave to fans back then, the singer has just made public the dates for the UK leg of the tour, as
Billboard magazine can confirm.
Tickets for the eight shows go on sale today, December 11, with the first show scheduled for May 7, when the UK tour officially kicks off. “The U.K. tour dates are: Birmingham LG Arena (May 7), Liverpool Echo Arena (May 8), London O2 Arena (May 10), Sheffield Arena (May 13), Nottingam Arena (May 14), Manchester Evening News Arena (May 16), Newcastle Arena (May 17) and Glasgow SECC (May 19),” Billboard writes.
As we were also
telling you a few days ago, Rihanna is already preparing hard for the tour, a thing she confirmed for MTV during a recent interview. For starters, she wants fans to know that, just like her new album brings a new sound, her tour will also include different visuals and, in short, elements that are both
surprising and novel. In Rihanna’s own words, she and her team are now thinking of things that have never been done before on stage by a female performer, with the purpose of including them in her show.
“We’ve been prepping for the tour for a few months now, coming out with different ideas and cool things that we can do. Things that we’ve never seen before, daring things – but now is when we really start with the rehearsal and we get into the nitty-gritty and the details of everything. I love taking risks. I’m not afraid of the unknown. We gonna be going on tour in the spring and the tickets are going to be up for presale in a couple weeks, actually. It’s going to be a worldwide tour, so it’s going to be a very long tour... We’ll definitely be in your city, so look out for that,” Rihanna was saying for MTV.
Dates for the other territories have not yet been announced but, as noted above, since this is a worldwide tour, more details should be made available in the weeks to come. Make sure you keep an eye on this space for them.
