Rihanna Agrees to Have Restraining Order Against Chris Brown Lifted

Two years after the incident that ended their relationship and made headlines around the world, when Chris Brown attacked Rihanna and “beat her to a pulp,” she has agreed to have the restraining order modified to a level one.

Until now, as part of the sentence that Brown has already carried out after pleading guilty to domestic violence charges, he was not allowed to make any contact with her.

Rihanna has now instructed her attorney to have that order modified so that he may contact her for business, on the condition that he doesn’t “annoy” her, MTV reports.

Attorneys of both parties have agreed that this is the next logical step, but a judge is yet to make the change official, the same media outlet informs, citing reports in the media.

“The ‘S&M’ singer requested the order to be bumped down to a level one, which would mean that the two are allowed to contact each other as long as Brown doesn’t harass or annoy his superstar ex,” MTV writes.

“Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, is aware of the request but needs to head to the court for a judge to officially change the original order,” the e-zine further notes.

“Judge Patricia Schnegg put the protective order into effect in August 2009 after Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting his then-girlfriend,” the report reads.

“The restriction mandated that the former couple were barred from communicating with each other and that they must maintain their distance if they were to attend the same event,” says MTV.

Under the terms of the previous restraining order, Brown was to keep away from Rihanna by 100 yards at all times and 10 yards if they were at the same industry event.

He could not contact her under any circumstance, manner or form.

Speaking of industry events, both Chris and Rihanna are up for awards in several categories at this Sunday’s Grammys. They will not meet, though, since only Rihanna is scheduled to attend the gala.
