This is the third time allegations of plagiarism plague the pop star

Right before the Christmas holiday, Rihanna treated her fans with the best present ever: she premiered the official video for her latest single, “You Da One.” Now, only a few days later, she's accused of ripping off a photographer for the clip.

Shortly after the release of “You Da One,” as the video kept getting thousands of hits per hour, buzz was picking up that the clip, as original as it might seem, was the exact opposite of that, AceShowbiz informs.

Shot in London in between breaks on her tour and directed by Melina Matsoukas, the video sees Rihanna undergo a series of transformations as she professes her undying love for the man in her life.

A couple scenes in particular have gotten the attention of fans, showing Rihanna with a bowl cut, dressed in a body suit, writhing on the floor as patterns are projected onto her body.

The idea was lifted from an spread by Sølve Sundsbø, the aforementioned e-zine says.

“Soon after her music video for latest single 'You Da One' hit the web, people were quick to notice that some scenes in the Melina Matsoukas-directed clip bear resemblance to a work done by famed fashion photographer Sølve Sundsbø,” AceShowbiz writes.

“Shadows of stripes and dots form unique patterns across her skin while she's writhing on the floor. The visuals are identical to a nude photo shoot Solve did for 'Numero 93' in 2008,” adds the publication.

The model used back then is Edita Vilkeviciute and, as you can see in the photo attached to this article, it's just the hair color that differentiates the two images.

Fans must already know that this is actually the third time a Rihanna video makes way for plagiarism claims.

A while ago, photographer David LaChapelle took her to court for allegedly shamelessly ripping off his photos for the “S&M” video.

The case was settled out of court, with some reports claiming Rihanna's camp agreed to pay LaChapelle $1 million (€719,476) for the infringement.

Rihanna's video for “We Found Love” was equally plagued by controversy, with various voices online claiming it was an obvious ripoff of Cee-Lo Green's “No One's Gonna Love You,” as we also informed you at the time.

Oddly enough, all three videos were directed by Melina Matsoukas.
