Rihanna is back on the pop scene with a new single called “[B-word] Better Have My Money” or #BBHMM for short. It will be included on her upcoming album and it will also be getting a music video soon.

While it’s burning up the tracks, trouble looms for the Barbadian pop star: allegations have surfaced that she ripped off a Houston-based performer and songwriter for the new song.

Her name is Just Brittany and her song is called “Betta Have My Money,” and was included on a mixtape she dropped on SoundCloud 9 months ago. I can’t post it here in full because it contains very strong and potentially offensive language, but I’m sure you can find it, if you’re so inclined.

However, available below is a comparison of the two tracks from Complex: you will notice that the hook is very similar both lyrically and in the melody, which seems ground enough for the plagiarism allegations.

For the time being, neither Rihanna nor Just Brittany has said anything on the topic, but if this scandal blows up, the latter might seek legal action against the former. Industry analysts believe the Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams “Blurred Lines” sentence set a very dangerous precedent for actions of this type.
