After HP announced full certification for Ubuntu on their Proliant server machines, it's time for another company to make this step. RightScale, Inc., provider of cloud computing management solutions,  announced last week a partnership with Canonical in providing full support for the Ubuntu Linux distribution as part of the RightScale Cloud Management Platform. Ubuntu users can now fully manage and install applications on cloud infrastructures (e.g. Amazon EC2) through RightScale.

"Ubuntu is the fastest-growing Linux distribution, and we anticipate that cloud computing will be an increasingly active area of development for the large Ubuntu community. RightScale's cloud management platform removes much of the complexity and risk from cloud computing, providing an easy way for Ubuntu developers to 'test the waters' of cloud computing or even deploy full production cloud applications for cost-effective, on-demand IT."
, said Thorsten von Eicken, CTO and founder of RightScale.

The RightScale web based cloud management platform will now feature several ServerTemplates specifically made for Ubuntu. These were created to cover some of the most common server configurations like scalable web/application arrays, grids or database clusters.

Simon Wardley, support services manager at Canonical said, "The RightScale cloud management platform gives Ubuntu developers an excellent cloud management solution, with automated management of the complete cloud deployment throughout the application's lifecycle."

About RightScale, Inc.

The RightScale company was founded in 2006 and offers a fully automated cloud management platform. Organizations can easily deploy mission-critical applications with total control and complete portability. The RightScale Cloud Management Platform is available in several editions, ranging from the free Developer Edition to Enterprise Editions. Until now, more than 350,000 servers were launched on the RightScale platform.
