Director will turn 2003 TV doc into a feature film, make the threat global

Back in 2003, BBC aired a mock documentary on what would happen if the already faulty transport system in the UK took another hit that would send it spiraling out of control. Ridley Scott will soon be turning it into a movie.

“The Day Britain Stopped” was scripted and fictional, but it still made an impact for showing the many ways in which a small problem could end up to cause a world of trouble.

Slash Film is now saying that Scott is looking into the project to turn it into a feature film, and we might as well assume that he'll also take the threat and make it global.

'The disaster pic will see Scott re-teaming with Steve Zaillian, the writer-producer who last collaborated with Scott on American Gangster. Scott and Zaillian picked up the movie rights to the telefilm and have it set up at 20th Century Fox,” the e-zine says.

Just to help you get an idea of what to expect from Scott's film, at least in broad strokes, above is the original documentary in full. Enjoy.
