Reddit is experiencing a renaissance, the site that seemed to linger for a few years, had a great 2010 and it looks like it's poised to grow even bigger and faster this year. While traffic exploded in the last year, so did the strain on its servers. It has been adding more, but it now has the manpower to handle them as well thanks to a few hires.

On the engineering front, Reddit has doubled the number of sys admins it has under its employment to a record-breaking two.

With two full-time employees keeping an eye on things, Reddit should prove a lot more stable than ever before.

Reddit experienced its share of growing pains in the last year when its servers couldn't keep up with the number of people visiting the site.

On the other hand, it wasn't getting any help from its corporate overlords, Conde Nast, so Reddit turned to its greatest asset, the community, by introducing 'gold' accounts.

"Citizens of reddit, we're in a very good place right now, and it's all because of you," Reddit writes.

"You return again and again, contributing and voting and building the site into something that millions want to be a part of. It gives us eye-popping traffic numbers. And the percentage of you who block our ads is astoundingly small for such a tech-savvy audience," it said.

"Finally, more and more of you continue to sign up for reddit gold, or give it to each other as gifts. This is very important because it proves that a site like ours can cover the costs of its own growth without being forced to resort to ever-more-annoying ads," Reddit continued.

As a result, the site can afford to add more members to its tiny crew. Along with the new sys admin, Reddit is also doubling its sales department to, you guessed it, two people. That's not all, Reddit also hired a couple of its more hardcore users to serve as a customer support rep and to handle Amazon Associates links.
