1 in 6 people have no idea how many photos they have

A firm called IceCream that sells a photo app bearing the company’s name has released the results of a study according to which 91% of iPhone owners have storage problems on an ongoing basis.

“A storm is brewing. The iPhone may be the most successful consumer electronics device in history with 600 million sold, but it’s failing to live up its own tradition. A chronic storage problem affects over 100 million users each month. We know why it’s happening,” says IceCream.

Citing numbers churned out by O2/Telefonica, the company says 91% of iPhone users have just 16GB or less of storage and they’re constantly in the dark regarding how much storage they actually have at a given time. The report, posted on the company's blog, is a little off the rails but an interesting read nonetheless.

1 in 6 people have no idea how many photos they have

The study says one sixth of the iPhone install base is clueless regarding how many photos they have on their device. As opposed to what? Android users who are constantly in the loop regarding the latest count of images and videos residing on their handsets?

Let’s agree on one thing. If there’s anyone out there who is actually counting the photos they have on their device, storage probably isn’t their biggest problem. If this sounds familiar to you, then surely you know your Seinfeld.

23% of people have deleted photos by mistake

Really? If you asked us, we’d have said 100% of all iPhone users have deleted photos by mistake at a certain point in their relationship with the Apple handset.

“Nearly a quarter of people told us that they suffer from photo burnout because they’ll never have the time to review them all,” the study goes. “No wonder that 23% of people who have deleted photos by mistake haven’t backed up, either.”

Of course they’re not going to review them all if they have like a thousand photos on there. Who in their right mind does that? It’s simpler to just take them all out and store them on a computer, on an external hard drive, or send them to the cloud.

And why are these people surprised that users are constantly on the low in the storage department? Of course the phone will eventually get filled up, since it’s so easy to take pictures and shoot video and download apps all the time.

64% of users want more storage space

No kidding. Did anyone ask them about any other thing they might desire, like a million bucks in cash, a cute pet, a flashy car, a race horse, a stuffed monkey maybe? I’m pretty sure you’d get about the same percentage in those areas as well. Let’s put it another way. Who would not want extra storage?

When IceCream asked people how much more storage they’d like to have, they reportedly told the firm “90% more should do.” The firm says it has solved the storage problem with IceCream, which it markets as the camera app that "never runs out of space.”

Cute.
