Most of the industry’s largest photo gear manufacturers were present in Cologne, Germany to take part in one of the world’s biggest digital imaging events – Photokina 2014.

Among them was Ricoh Imaging which had a few neat things to show us too. The company put on display the Pentax K-S1 DSLR and its own take at the GoPro camera market, arriving in the form of the small and rugged Ricoh WG-M1 action camera.

Pentax full-frame DSLR headed for 2015

This was this year, but what about next year? What’s the company cooking up for the year to come? If you must know, Ricoh itself announced the development of the new Pentax DSLR with a full frame sensor, set to be unveiled somewhere in 2015. The manufacturer also confirmed three K-mount lenses.

The announcement comes to confirm rumors that were circulating online a few weeks prior. For some reason, Ricoh wanted to make things clear so it took the reins, went on Facebook (of its French subsidiary) and let the whole world know what it was up to (look at the user comments).

It’s been quite some time since a 35mm Pentax camera has been released into the wild, because the company has been going through a rough patch. However, back in 2011 Ricoh Imaging came to the rescue and since then things seem to be maintaining themselves afloat.

This is confirmed by the fact that the company is in the midst of developing a new full frame DSLR that is scheduled to make a debut on the market in 2015.

Three new Pentax K-mount lenses will arrive on the market this winter

While we wait on this big event to happen, we are taking the opportunity to tell you Ricoh put on display three Pentax K-mount lenses on the grounds at Photokina 2014.

Only one of these three has been given an official name and this is HD DA 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6 ED DC WR and is a zoom lens that offers 35mm equivalent of 24-127mm. It is also weathersealed and expected to show up in retail sometimes this winter.

The other two models are a bright telephoto zoom lens and a regular super-telephoto zoom lens. However, their specific features have not been disclosed yet. However, some rumors indicate the two lenses are aimed at full frame cameras.

Ricoh’s GoPro competitor is also something quite cute to look at. The small shooter arrives with a 14-megapixel sensor and works alongside a wide-angle, 160-degree, F2.8 lens in order to capture full HD 1080p video or photographs. The WG-M1 is also quite speedy, as it can snap up to 10 images per second.
