Ricoh has recently announced the release of new firmware updates for Pentax Q, Q7, and Q10 cameras. The improvements have been detailed in a blog from our Photo section.

The installation procedure, however, is something that you need to know. All you need is a FAT32 formatted SD Card and the firmware archive. Extract the contents of the zip and proceed as follows.

Copy it to the memory card and safely remove the device. Insert it in your camera, and then power it on. Make sure your battery is fully charged.

Open the menu and select the “Set-up 3” tab. Next, go to “Firmware Version Info” and then press four-way controller right to display update screen.

Hit “Start” and confirm with “OK” when prompted. The update is now beginning, and “Now Loading” should come up on the screen. Be patient through the process, as it can take a while. It is crucial that you do not power off the unit or unlock the lens while the installation is ongoing.

When the setup is complete, a message to confirm it will be displayed and the camera will automatically shut down after 5 seconds of inactivity. You can now remove the SD card from the unit and format it again, for further usage.

Get the firmware archives from the links below, install the one for your camera, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
