After years of speculation about his orientation, Ricky Martin came out in March 2010 in a touching post on his official blog post. This out of the way, the pop star is now looking to expand his brood, he reveals in a new interview.

Martin, who is already a father of twins, sat down for an interview with the February 2012 issue of Latina magazine, which will arrive at newsstands tomorrow, January 10.

In it, he talks about his role on Broadway in “Evita,” how coming out has helped him be more in touch with his fans and, last but not least, about future plans to add another member to his family.

It will happen, he says, though he can't pinpoint an exact date right now. For the time being, Ricky knows he wants a baby girl and that he wants her sooner than later.

“I think that I’ll do it later on this year, so that [the kids] are not too far apart in ages,” he explains.

“A little girl! Dios mío, me muero… But we’re going to talk about that later on. It would be irresponsible to do it now,” he adds as an afterthought.

In the same interview, the singing sensation reveals that coming out actually made him closer to his fans, who have embraced him in a way not even he expected.

“They feel more in touch with me and I feel more in touch with them. If I feel free, they’re going to feel free and vice versa. It’s contagious,” he explains.

Come to think of it, this shouldn't be that surprising considering that one of the reasons listed for coming out was the need to be honest with his fans, as we also reported at the time.

In the same touching and inspiring statement, Ricky noted that he had decided to stop living a lie because acceptance had to come first from within, which was he was making the choice to be honest about his orientation.

“This was not supposed to happen 5 or 10 years ago, it is supposed to happen now. Today is my day, this is my time, and this is my moment,” he added.
