Comedian Ricky Gervais is quite popular these days and, luckily for animals worldwide, he is ready and willing to use his fame to promote green and humane causes.

Thus, just yesterday, the Humane Society of the United States announced that the comedian had agreed to get behind the organization's Be Cruelty-Free USA campaign.

The Society goes on to detail that the goal of this initiative is to convince high officials in the United States to put an end to the practice of testing cosmetics on animals.

Besides, members and supporters of said organization hope that this anti-animal cruelty campaign will also translate into a ban on the sale of cosmetics tested on animals.

Commenting on his decision to support the Society's initiative, Ricky Gervais said that, “I'm delighted to help The HSUS' Be Cruelty-Free USA campaign to end the cruel and outdated practice of testing cosmetics on living animals.”

“Rabbits and rodents forced to endure toxic cosmetics testing in U.S. laboratories, have no-one to speak up for them but us.”

“So I urge all Americans to be their voice, support the Humane Cosmetics Act and make the U.S. the next cruelty-free cosmetics zone,” the comedian added.
