In late March, it was announced that Ricky Gervais had teamed up with the Humane Society of the United States, and was looking to end the practice of testing cosmetics on animals in this part of the world.

As it turns out, the comedian is dead set on seeing animal tests outlawed in other countries as well. Thus, Ricky Gervais has recently entered a partnership with the Humane Society International, and is now asking that folks in Australia support a ban on cosmetics animal testing.

According to Ecorazzi, the ban in question, dubbed the End Cruel Cosmetics Bill, was introduced just a few days ago by Senator Lee Rhiannon, and presently awaits to be voted on by members of the Parliament.

If approved and implemented, this bill would make it illegal to test cosmetics on animals in Australia. Besides, the country would no longer be allowed to import and market cosmetics that have been tested on animals.

Commenting on this initiative to outlaw cosmetics animal testing in Australia, the comedian said that, “Rabbits and mice who have cosmetics dripped in their eyes or spread on their skin, are just as deserving of our compassion as the animals with whom we share our homes.”

“Let’s end their suffering. I’m proud to support the Be Cruelty-Free Australia campaign and urge all Australians to get involved,” Ricky Gervais added.

Those who wish to show their support for the End Cruel Cosmetics Bill can do so by signing this Humane Society International petition.
