Ricky Gervais is pretty busy these days. Busy speaking out against animal cruelty and protecting the rights of those who can't protect themselves, that is.

Only a couple of days ago, the comedian asked his fans to sign a petition demanding that high officials in the UK cancel the upcoming badger cull.

Together with green-group Humane Society International, Ricky Gervais is now asking that the Spanish government outlaw bullfighting as soon as possible.

“Bullfighting is so cruel. I can think of nothing worse than inflicting terrible pain, fear and suffering on a beautiful animal for the sake of amusement,” the comedian believes.

“The torment and death of animals for amusement, or for cultural reasons, can never be acceptable. It is cruel and outdated, and has no place in a modern society,” Humane Society International stresses.

According to Ecorazzi, the anti-bullfighting campaign launched by Humane Society International, which Ricky Gervais is now supporting, is first and foremost intended to keep Spanish high officials from using public funds to support bullfighting.
