Ricky Gervais will play a studio boss in For Your Consideration, a movie which takes a satirical look at Hollywood's obsession with award shows.

The British comedian, 44, became famous for his lead role in The Office, a show which has received huge critical acclaim and a host of prestigious awards including Two Golden Globes, six BAFTAs, four British Comedy Awards and the prestigious American award The Peabody.


Shooting for the film starring Ricky Gervais and Eugene Levy, written and directed by Christopher Guest, will begin in October.

"We all know many people who have been through this reality, and how it changes them.

"This happens to be an area I know something about.

"It's a virus." Guest's wife Jamie Lee Curtis said.
