Ricki Lake’s return to the talk show circuit wasn’t as successful as she had hoped: The Ricki Lake Show was canceled after just one season because of disappointing ratings.

Lake’s first show ran from 1993 to 2004 but, this time around, she wanted to switch it up a bit in the hope of reaching out to new segments of the audience.

As USA Today puts it, an audience is what it never found: The Ricki Lake Show averaged only 926,000 viewers, which put her at the bottom of the daytime race.

A new season won’t be made.

“I am so proud of the shows we completed this season, sparking important conversations about everything from raising children to mental illness to suicide prevention to coming out,” Lake says of the cancelation in a statement to the aforementioned media outlet.

“I will continue to be an active and passionate voice for subjects that are close to my heart through a variety of platforms,” she adds.
