Even before the latest season of Dancing With the Stars kicked off on ABC, Ricki Lake was saying she was hoping to pull “a Kirstie Alley” and lose a lot of weight. It seems the strenuous dance routines are doing their job, since she’s already shedding the extra pounds.

Ricki, who has a long history of yo-yo-ing weight, has been training hard to stay in the competition – and it shows in both her scores on each show and in her thinning waistline.

Speaking with Ellen DeGeneres on her show, the star revealed that she’s already lost 13 inches and about 15 pounds (approximately 7kg), the Daily Mail informs.

“I lost more than 13 inches in a month. It’s crazy,” she told Ellen. She credits the long hours in rehearsals for it and, of course, partner Derek Hough.

“The Derek Hough diet is the best. It’s hardcore,” she said laughing.

“They say [Dancing with the Stars] is the hardest thing you will ever do and you’re like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’ve done hard: I had my baby in my bathtub at home’ and yet we work out all day long,” Ricki continues.

“We are sweating all over each other!” she adds, making sure Ellen gets just how much of a challenge the DWTS workout is.

In previous interviews with Us Weekly, Access Hollywood and People, Ricki has also said that she was finding shifting the extra pounds by dancing comparatively much easier than losing weight by excessive diet.

Since she went the unhealthy diet route once in her life, she should know what she’s saying.

“I am really getting in great shape. I will be wearing less and less clothing the smaller I get. I am feeling more comfortable in my own skin,” she said, as quoted by the same British publication.
