Gangsta rapper Rick Ross was the intended target of a drive-by shooting that took place in Florida the other day, police have confirmed. The identity of the other intended victim has also been released to the press.

As we also informed you the other day, Ross crashed his Rolls Royce in an apartment building as he was trying to escape gunfire.

At the time word of this got out online, police were yet to confirm whether the rapper had really been involved in the incident, with several media outlets going on just hearsay and eyewitness reports in running the story.

TMZ can now confirm that Ross was in the car at the time unknown assailants opened fire.

“Cops have now confirmed Ross was driving the Rolls-Royce at the time of the crash. The passenger was Shateria L. Moragne-el – who is reportedly dating the rapper,” the celebrity e-zine reports.

“Cops say neither party suffered any injuries. The suspects fled from the scene before cops arrived on scene,” adds the same media outlet.

According to reports, another car pulled up next to the Rolls Royce and immediately opened fire. In attempting to make a go for it and escape, Ross crashed the car in an apartment building.

Police are now investigating, with TMZ saying in a separate post that further clues as to the identity of the assailants could be found on the surveillance tapes retrieved from cameras on the street where the whole thing went down.

“Sources connected to the case tell us security cameras at a building across the street from the crash were rolling during the incident and cops are hoping the footage will either reveal the identity of the shooter... or at least show the vehicle,” TMZ writes.

Reports the other day were saying about 20 fires were shot, all of them presumably meant for Ross.
