On Monday’s Dancing With the Stars show, Chaz Bono and partner Lacey Schwimmer benefitted from some good ol’-fashioned pep talk from none other than Richard Simmons. In a statement today, his rep is rubbishing reports he might be “ill.”

As we also informed you yesterday, when rehearsing for movie theme night, Chaz and Lacey did an intro video in which he was being trained by Simmons, in the manner of Rocky from the film of the same name.

Viewers noticed that the fitness guru looked a bit too frail even considering his age – and immediately flooded online forums with comments about whether he was suffering from some mysterious illness.

That’s not the case, his rep tells People magazine in a new statement.

“He’s the healthiest he’s ever been,” the publicist explains, shooting down rumors that his client is so thin because he’s ill.

“He’s actually at the weight he was when we launched the original Sweatin’ to the Oldies [1988]. He is completely healthy, happy and fit as a fiddle,” the same rep adds.

Not only is the iconic fitness trainer in excellent shape and health, but he’s also doing wonderfully in all aspects of his personal life, including in his work as an activist.

“Simmons – who currently has a dance studio in Beverly Hills and offers his signature Slimmons classes to the public – is apparently doing well in all aspects of his life, including his personal crusade for the passage of the Fit Kids Act, which would help fight childhood obesity by strengthening physical education classes in the nation’s schools,” People magazine writes.

Simmons is “happy” and is in a wonderful place in his life right now, the publicist stresses in one final bid to put fans at ease about the reasons he appeared so thin on television.

Below is a video of Chaz and Lacey’s Paso Doble. Richard Simmons appears in the first seconds.
