Comedian and actor explains his gesture: “a joke is a joke”

Stand-up comedian and actor Richard Belzer has managed to step on a few toes and get even more people hot under his collar with his recent interview on Fox News. The video above will explain why.

After saying the A-word on air even though there apparently was no 5-second delay, Belzer did the Nazi salute at the end of the interview.

He obviously meant it as a joke but, even so, angry voices online are saying, there are some things that should be off limits at all times.

In a statement to TMZ, Belzer stressed, through his publicist, that he had no intention of apologizing for his sense of humor.

“[It was] satirical gesture toward Fox News ... whose ideology he is opposed to. The other portion was a joke pertaining to the material of Richard's TV show, which he tweaked at the last minute to make about furniture. A joke is a joke,” his rep says.
