You know what they say, that gold is the purest, eternal symbol of wealth. Now, it may be so indeed (let alone Paris Hilton and the Swarowski toilet sets and stuff) but there is real doubt that the world of technology is that much into gold. I mean there is much gold in circuitry and the inner workings of gear but on the outside there are mostly rims and stylish decorations.
Well,
Onkyo have created a gilded AVR and claimed that the golden "shell" somehow improves the overall performance due to this metal's conductor proprieties. I guess there were quite few persons that have tested and compared the sound of the stock gear with that of the gilded one; they simply went for gold and that was pretty much everything to this.
It's not time for a Korean manufacturer, Yuhan to showcase a golden Home Theater PC at the Computex 2007. Now it's really hard to say whether the simple and traditional look of this golden HTPC will do - some customers are quite fond of the complex and agglomerated front plates of such gear while others would rather go for the spartan, simplified designs.
Further on, there is functionality: the new Yuhan Home Theater PC sports very conveniently-placed microphone and headphones jacks on the front plate as well as a MMC/SD/MS card slot for easy and most direct access.
The 5.25" bay allows for any DVD drive to be loaded as needed; even more, you can go for a HD-DVD or BluRay driver if planning to go all the way high-def. Not much additional data was released about this new specific Yuhan model but such info is expected soon.
Until the full specs are out, you have enough time to decide whether you'll go for the simple and traditional or complex and button-loaded looks for your next Home Theater PC. And of course if it will be gold or not.
