Linspire has announced yesterday that it plans to expand its CNR ("Click 'N Run") software management and digital download service to support multiple Linux distributions. Plans include an initial support for Fedora Core, OpenSUSE, Ubuntu and Debian Linux distributions. Kevin Carmony, the President & CEO of Linspire Inc. stated that he had enough with complains from MS Windows and Mac users about Linux that there are too many distributions and each one has a different way to install software: "When

Until now, the CNR service was available only for Linspire and Freespire users, but it will begin to provide one click software installation technology for users of other desktop Linux distributions.

Finding, installing and managing software on your desktop Linux computer was never that easy. Linspire began to work on this project a year ago, and has completely redesigned, updated, and enhanced the CNR technology to support multiple distributions, both Debian and RPM based. The Click 'N Run service will remain a free service for all the distributions supported. CNR will also bring more choices for desktop Linux users to purchase premium products and services, such as legally licensed DVD Players, TransGaming's Cedega, Sun's StarOffice, Win4Lin Pro, CodeWeavers' CrossoverOffice.
