What do you know about Google Earth? Probably you can say that it is an application that allows you to view highly detailed satellite imagery of every corner of the world. Not anymore! Because Google's downloadable mapping tool is now able to provide exciting photos with the sky, allowing you to view detailed photos with the planets, the stars or entire constellations just like a real telescope. If you want to test this innovative function, you must update your Google Earth to the latest version because only this release provides support for the sky. After you install the latest edition of Google Earth, you can access the function by pressing the special button placed on the toolbar of the application.

"Today, I'm excited to announce we are launching Sky in Google Earth. You can now explore the universe from the comfort of your chair. Zoom in to distant galaxies hundreds of millions of light years away, explore the constellations, see the planets in motion, witness a supernova explosion; it's like having a giant, virtual telescope at your command -- your own personal planetarium!" Lior Ron, Product Manager, wrote on the official blog of the product.

It seems that the Mountain View company tries anything possible to bring more consumers to their records. After it bundled Street View, an interesting function that shows street level panoramas from several US cities, in Google Maps, Google now allows you to view the sky straight from the downloadable mapping tool. At this time, there are several other software solutions that provide detailed imagery with the sky but, with the power of search giant, Google Earth will surely attract more users.

Take for example Celestia. Although it offers an impressive collection of space imagery bundled with other valuable information, it is somehow unpopular because the parent company didn't promote it too often. Compared to it, Google Earth is a famous solution and will continue to grow, as long as the parent company improves it with this kind of features.

As always, you can download all the versions of Google Earth from Softpedia.
