Review: Hit 'Snooze', Help Charity with Every Press of the Button

Often are the times when you hit the Snooze button knowing you’ll be late for work. Well, now you can feel good about it even if your boss is waiting for you at the entrance giving you the stare.

Snooze, a free iPhone application by LetGive, Inc., allows you to pledge $0.25 to a nonprofit in the LetGive network every time you hit the snooze button.

Just register with LetGive, choose an organization towards which your proceeds will go, and you can doze off.

Naturally, your phone won’t send over the money every time you ‘snooze’. LetGive wouldn’t want to take advantage of heavy sleepers.

Instead, you'll have the opportunity to donate the cumulated value of your snoozes to the nonprofit twice a month. Don’t go back-tracking on your good deed, though!

“Press the 'snooze button' on this alarm clock and support a featured cause," says LetGive.

"Each snooze pledges 25 cents. At the end of the month, decide how much you’d like to donate.”



The application interface is extremely simple (not that an alarm clock app could ever be too complex) featuring a bright, fluorescent clock display on a gray background.

A small cogwheel at the bottom right side of the screen takes you to the settings where you can set your alarm time, snooze interval, and one of four alarm sounds - not the most original ringers they could pick if you ask this reviewer.


You can receive alarms even when the application is closed and all alarms are set to repeat daily. Yes, you can rely on Snooze if the daylight savings bug comes back to haunt us this year too.

The ability to choose from multiple clock displays currently isn’t there yet, but I’m betting $0.25 on the implementation of several new ones in a future 1.1 update.
