“Sande says stop shopping!” reverend Billy exclaims

OK, so hurricane Sandy drew strength from global warming. Granted, global warming is a direct result of ever-increasing levels of pollution.

Yes, pollution is caused by heavily industrialized societies that do anything but pay attention to how they use and abuse the planet's resources.

But still, Reverend Billy Talen and his Church of Stop Shopping seem to take the whole issue of consumerism and how it affects both the planet and the people inhabiting it a tad too far.

It may very well be that society needs to push for sustainability, otherwise global average temperatures will only up and extreme weather manifestations will become ever more frequent, but does this really mean that we should all throw all of our gizmos and gadgets in the trash, and burn down all of our clothes and keep just one T-shirt?

I mean, there is such a thing as energy efficiency, and harvesting renewable energy resources can also help. No need not to buy anything this coming Black Friday.
