Rumors are running rife that the former British rock band Oasis is staging a reunion after a cryptic video montage appeared on their Instagram page this morning. The short video blends images of the band during performances with a superimposed date on top that reads “26 February 9 AM.”

Excited fans responded immediately to this shocking and unexpected news, drawing that conclusion that the Gallagher brothers would finally be putting their creative differences behind them and agree to reform the band.

The news spread like wildfire on social media, praising Noel and Liam for having made up in order to give fans more quality music. However, many were left disappointed and betrayed when it was later revealed the video was made in order to announce the release of the group's debut album “Definitely Maybe.”

The news was then confirmed by a picture of the band first LP being posted on their official Twitter account. “Definitely Maybe” celebrates 20 years today since it was launched and a new, digitally remastered album is now being released in shops.

Needless to say, fans who got excited by the confusion, wasted no time in blasting the group's public relations team, “Do oasis not realise we’re in the 21st century, no one buys CD’s anymore if onlyyyyy it was a tour,” tweeted an angry fan.

Another one raged “Shame on you!! Getting die hard fans all excited! Nobody gives a hoot about some remastered albums!! We wanted 100k people at Heaton park screaming OASIS OASIS OASIS!!! Then Cigarettes and Alcohol blasting out! Total let down!”

But despite pleading fans, the band stays firmly separated after a reported meltdown on 28 August 2009 which resulted in Liam breaking Noel's guitar. The brothers eventually went their separate ways, among speculation that Noel had been planning a solo career for some time.

Back in November last year, lead guitarist Noel, reinforced his position by saying that he would not reform Oasis, “There is no band. If there is a reunion, I won't be a part of it,” he bitterly said, indicating that the feud was very much alive after all these years.

Despite this, Roger Daltrey, former frontman for British rock band The Who, promised fans that he would make the two brothers perform together on stage at the Teenager Cancer Trust Charity in 2015. He claimed that he could get the brothers to reform the band since “blood is much thicker than music.”

Believe it or not, the two Gallagher brothers have not spoken to each other since the day they broke up the band and, based on current events, they won't be sending each other greeting cards this Christmas either.
