Retrevo, the consumer electronics shopping and review site, has posted its latest iPhone picks, this time focusing on the best apps for March Madness and other spring sports. Retrevo looks at Apple products (and not only) from a consumer point of view, offering up its analysis as a useful resource for everyone.

“Spring is in the air, at least for those of us not experiencing blizzard conditions and spring means two things for sports fans; NCAA basketball and Spring Training,” the latest post over at Retrevo’s blog reads. “Chances are, you're in good shape as far as HDTV is concerned but in case you're not, Retrevo can help you find an affordable HDTV that's good for watching sports. Otherwise here are some apps to help make your spring sports experience more enjoyable,” the introduction goes.

Retrevo has picked MLB.com At Bat 2010, College Basketball Live!, Basketball Rule Book, PocketBracket: College Basketball, CBS Sports Mobile, and ESPN World Cup 2010. Talking about the first title in particular, the company claims that, “The 2010 version of this highly regarded iPhone app is out! Yes, it will cost you $14.99, but that's about the price of a couple of beers and an order of garlic fries at most ball parks. Not only can you listen and, in many cases, watch live games, but the new version adds Spring Training streams and stats along with schedules, rosters and more. It's also available on Android phones.”

Unlike the former, the updated College Basketball Live! application is free. It is only a basketball score and news app, “but that's what you need for March Madness, right?” Retrevo says. “The newest version offers play-by-play for this year's games,” it points out. And while the Basketball Rule Book comes in handy to settle an argument, PocketBracket: College Basketball is for those who are more into Brackets and pools. The latter costs two bucks, while the former is free.

CBS Sports Mobile is also free. “[…] Despite a few criticisms on the iTunes store […] it offers features like news, ‘game centers,’ fantasy games, and more,” making it worthy of your attention, Retrevo suggests. Finally, ESPN World Cup 2010 is suitable for when the 2010 FIFA World Cup gets underway this summer in South Africa. Retrevo has picked this app not only because it offers schedules, news, profiles, and of course scores, but also because it’s completely free.
