Avid Softpedia readers may remember that an analytics company, going by the name of Retrevo, once released a Gadgetology study revealing that US students were less into netbooks than into regular-sized laptops. This time around, the Retrevo Gadgetology report holds evidence that one in three iPhone owners sees out-of-date gadgets as a turnoff.

Retrevo’s ongoing study of people and electronics, known as the Gadgetology Report, uses data provided via a survey of online individuals (non-Retrevo users), conducted by an independent panel. iPhone owners in Retrevo's recent iPhone Vs. BlackBerry Study were the respondents for this recent survey.

“As one of the most publicized gadgets in recent history, it’s no surprise that Apple’s iPhone has won over the hearts & minds of many a smart-phone owner,” says Retrevo. “But who are the iPhone users really? What makes them tick? In a recent Gadgetology study Retervo set out to learn the answer to these and other questions. The result; a snapshot profile of a typical iPhone owner.”

Asked "What makes a person most attractive to you?" iPhone owners revealed they preferred cool gadgets over a college degree, whereas one in three iPhone users has used SMS or email to break up with “their significant other.” Three to one, again, it would be a turnoff for an owner of an iPhone if their partner had out-of-date gadgets. Not surprisingly, one in five admits to frequently watching “adult material” on their iPhones. While this is not a large figure (and remember, the report says “admits”), this is twice the number of BlackBerry owners.

Ironically, one in four iPhone users claims to have broken up with their partner because that person spent too much time on their mobile device. They are also more likely to see themselves as “media buffs, extroverts, and intellectuals,” according to Retrevo.
