Emmabuntüs, a distribution created for reconditioning old computers that relies on the robustness of Xubuntu 14.04 LTS, has advanced to version 1.08.

The Emmabuntüs distribution is intended to be sleek, accessible, and equitable but, above all, it's designed for old computers.

“It was designed to make the refurbishing of computers given to humanitarian organizations easier, especially Emmaüs communities (which is where the distribution's name comes from), and to promote the discovery of GNU/Linux by beginners,” reads the official announcement.

According to the changelog, the packages from Xubuntu 12.04.4 have been implemented (codecs and extensions contained in web browsers like Firefox, Chromium, Thunderbird mail reader), the extension Ghostery has been replaced by Disconnect in the browsers, the obsolete UbuntuOne Service has been removed, and the extension Language Tools for LibreOffice has been updated to version 2.5.

Also, the drivers for HP Printers have been updated, TeamViewer has been updated to version 9, the Scribus application has been implemented, the Picasa Windows version has been added instead of the 3.0 Linux version, and MTP-fuse has been added in order to make the connection to Android much easier.
