A restaurant in York is now patiently waiting for permission to set up a so-called vertical farm on one of its outside walls.

By the looks of it, the people in charge of running El Piano wish to serve the restaurant's customers only locally grown food. Hence, their decision to look into the possibility of setting up said vertical garden.

Should things go as planned, El Piano wants to use its outside wall in order to grow herbs and vegetables, Daily Mail reports.

“We can grow all kinds of herbs and small crops to compliment our dishes and add that extra twist to them,” spokesperson Liz Chadwick told members of the press.

“We're all about planning for the future and the sustainability of the restaurant, and we're thinking outside the box as to how we can do that,” she went on to say.

Hopefully, El Piano will be allowed to roll out this vertical garden.
