The bizarre restaurant is located in the city of Guadalajara, displays skulls, vertebrae and even mandibles

Here is a piece of news that might be of interest to those who like dining out but who are running out of ideas for new, wacky places to try out.

Long story short, it looks like the city of Guadalajara in Mexico is home to a bizarre restaurant that has actual bones adorning its walls.

The restaurant, photos of which are included in the gallery below, goes by the name of Hueso, which is the Spanish word for “bone.”

It is the brainchild of a Mexican architect named Ignacio Cadena, and despite its odd appearance, it is not without customers.

Still, it's safe to assume that no vegetarians/animal rights activists would ever even consider setting foot in it, be it to indulge in a salad or some other cruelty-free dish, regardless of how mouthwatering the food served at this restaurant might be.

Just how many bones adorn this restaurant?

The inside of the Hueso restaurant in Guadalajara, Mexico, displays about 10,000 bones. Before you start freaking out, it must be said that these body parts all come from animals. They are almost perfectly white and not all that scary to look at.

As detailed by architect Ignacio Cadena who, as mentioned, came up with the idea for this odd restaurant, the collection includes skulls, vertebrae and even mandibles. Mind you, it appears that bones are on display even in the restaurant's bathroom.

“Influenced by a Darwinian vision, the inside skin covers almost every vertical square inch of the interior with over 10,000 collected bones," the Mexican artist told the press in a recent interview, as cited by Oddity Central.

What's interesting is that, of the bones that are now on display in this corner of the world, some sit right next to kitchen utensils. Ignacio Cadena says that he settled on this display pattern to remind people that, ages ago, forks and spoons were made from, well, bones.

Apart from actual bones and run-of-the-mill kitchen utensils, Hueso displays replicas of skulls, jawbones, and other similar body parts. It is understood that these replicas are cast in aluminum.

The restaurant's exterior is quite odd as well

Not at all surprisingly, it appears that the outside of Guadalajara's Hueso isn't exactly what some would call mainstream either. On the contrary, it comprises several ceramic tiles sporting zigzag patterns.

Ignacio Cadena was given a free hand to toy with these zigzag patterns as well. Hence the fact that they now look like stitches and sewing marks. One can only assume that this design is intended to warn people about the shocking sights inside the restaurant.
