The restaurant says PETA and its supporters convinced it to do so

Marine park SeaWorld has been in the doghouse for quite some time now, which is why one can only assume it was very much looking forward to being able to forget about trouble for a while and celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Unfortunately, this event turned out to be just one other opportunity for green group PETA to rain on the marine park's parade.

Thus, Ecorazzi tells us that, courtesy of many messages that Bagatelle, i.e. a restaurant in New York City, received both from PETA members and the organization's supporters, SeaWorld's 50th anniversary party got canceled.

What's more, word has it that, at least as far as the marine park is concerned, when it rains, it pours. Long story short, Bagatelle canceled the marine park's much anticipated party less than 24 hours before the event was scheduled to take place.

PETA's doing its best to have SeaWorld's 50th anniversary party canceled was not just due to the fact that, following the release of documentary film “Blackfish,” animal rights activists have gone into overdrive trying to take the fun out of making a profit for the marine park.

By the looks of it, what sparked this organization’s anger was the fact that, according to information leaked to the public, some guests that really had no business being there were to attend the party in question.

More precisely, the marine park wished to have some penguins removed from their habitats and have them join the festivities.

Since these animals are not all that accustomed to being around people and having cameras flash their lights at them, PETA was very much worried about their psychological wellbeing.

The organization shared its worries with the New York City restaurant's owners, and the latter decided to take matters into their own hands and spoke to SeaWorld representatives.

“We were very disturbed by what you told us and have let the reps of sea world that no live animals will be let in our establishment and that we will cancel their event if this was meant to take place,” restaurant co-owner Remi Laba said in an e-mail that PETA received.

Seeing how the event was in fact canceled, one can only assume that SeaWorld refused to cross the penguins' names off the guest list.

“PETA is hanging up our protest placards and popping the champagne corks today in recognition of Bagatelle’s savvy business decision to put kindness ahead of profits,” PETA Senior Vice President Dan Mathews commented on the restaurant's decision not to house SeaWorld's 50th anniversary party.
