The ad made a background appearance on a movie set

A new title in the Resistance series was pretty much inevitable, and it seems Insomniac doesn't plan on fighting that which should be done. But the way in which they decided to make their new project known to the world is indeed interesting, if not just plain odd. In Shreveport, Louisiana the movie Battle: Los Angeles is currently under production and one of the background props seems to stand out from the typical items. NeoGAF member goldsoundz is the one that saw the inciting little spoiler and posted some photographs from the filming location that include a Resistance 3 billboard.

The movie is set to be ready in February 2011 and this is a schedule the new game could accommodate. Another thing that can't be ignored is that the film is produced by Columbia Pictures, a company that is owned by Sony. The connection with the PlayStation 3 exclusive is now obvious, as Sony could use this opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. Also, the series is known for its unconventional ads, like the one for Resistance 2. The story-high tarp was stretched across an entire building and was made to appear as if a monster was making its way through the walls of the construction.

Aspects of the game's title even revealed some details regarding the background setting of the game. As the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty are mingled in plain site with the letters that make up the name, the action is bound to be set in the city of New York. The game has yet to receive any official details from Insomniac, but if the release date of the movie where the billboard is found has any connection with the launch of the game, there is still plenty of time for that.

Resistance has proven to be a pretty successful shooter and it has a rather solid fan base. It's so solid and the members so addictive that one of them threw a fit when he was denied access to the game. The Californian gamer sued Sony for banning him from the forum board as well as the PlayStation Network but ended up nowhere.
