New issues are resolved

The PlayStation 3 hasn't had the greatest start when it was first launched, as there weren't a lot of games that made customers buy the console. But one of the most important day-one titles that appeared on Sony's big black box was Resistance: Fall of Man. The First Person Shooter was set in a parallel universe, where, in the 1950s, an evil virus, the Chimera, invaded the Earth and turned almost every person in a blood-thirsty monster.

The latest game in the franchise, Resistance 2, was launched before the holiday season and went on to gain a lot of positive reviews from critics because of its great game modes, each and every one of them being able to stand on its own, and for its intriguing story for both the single and the co-op modes. Unfortunately, Resistance 2, although very solid in terms of gameplay, has suffered from a few bugs, and it seems that Insomniac Games, the studio behind it, has decided to resolve them and will release a patch today.

The 1.40 patch will fix quite a few problems, including a very big one, which saw players lose the experience gained with their online and co-op characters, and as such begin the game all over again. But it now seems that they will get their experience back and the current one that they have on the characters will be added to them. Also, some trophy-related issues have been resolved, including The Killing Machine one, which awarded you a trophy after you would kill over 10,000 enemies in the game.

Here are some of the most important changes brought by this new patch:

Trophy/Medal/Ribbons “Salute Me” trophy is not awarded until player reaches level 31 (Lieutenant) “Berserker” trophy can be collected during non-ranked games “Survivor” medal can be collected in cooperative games “Sure Shot” ribbon is awarded if player has accuracy of exactly 50%

Match Balancing

Unbalanced ranked games are cancelled in staging before the game is started Parties are prevented from matchmaking into free-for-all Deathmatch games

Competitive

Loadouts can be disabled in the “Create Game” screen in competitive games Balanced the chance of dropping large ammo pickups in competitive games Core Control scoreboard displays “Kills” Improved scoreboard formatting

Cooperative

Balanced the amount of XP gained by the Medic class in cooperative games Stalker movement enabled in cooperative games Small ammo pickups don’t give LAARK ammo in cooperative games

Weapons/Gameplay Splash damage on Pulse Cannon can damage the player firing it Rossmore reticule better reflects its accuracy Fire is easier to shake off Players cannot swap weapons in the middle of a melee attack

In conclusion it seems that Resistance 2 owners will certainly be in for a much higher quality experience after the patch will be released today. Your PlayStation 3 will give you a notice when you start up the game to download the patch so you won't encounter any more problems.
