Insomniac might not know it, but Sony are really pinning some big hopes on their latest effort, Resistance 2, the sequel  to Fall of Man, the game which came out back in 2006 as a PlayStation 3 launch title. As the Xbox 360 is going to get an exclusive in Gears of War 2, Sony probably hopes that Resistance 2 will manage to bring in some sales for its gaming platform. It takes guts to launch the games roughly at the same time.

Now, Insomniac is looking for a few good players to test out the online modes of the game. The developers are really trying to do something to provide an interesting multiplayer, with eight players being said to be able to take part in co-op campaigning while competitive battles will probably support up to 60 players.

Sony has not revealed when the test begins, but it requires gamers to be at least 18 years old, own a PlayStation 3 and have an active PlayStation Network account with a broadband connection enabled. It seems that there are not to many places open in this private beta, so if you are interested in Resistance 2, you should move quickly to secure a place.

The game will offer the player more possibilities to take out the Chimera, as the fight goes to the United States, with our hero learning more about the motives of their invasion. Sony and Insomniac say that the full capabilities of the PlayStation 3 will be used to render a very beautiful world that has a lot of details simulated. The gameplay will also offer more options regarding the challenges presented. In direct competition with the behemoth Gears of War 2, every bit matters, so help the developers create the best game they can by joining their beta test.
